Well, I've just signed up for a bunch of social networking sites that I never thought I would in the name of personal branding. Sounds a lot more glamorous than it actually is. Feel free to follow me on MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, Jaiku, Plurk, LinkedIn, etc. and I'll follow you back on the above.
Thanks!

House approves caps on executive pay
I can't believe it has come to this: http://bit.ly/ek8Em. This whole government interference with the financial system is just spiralling out of control. First, we artificially prop up these irresponsible banks (which just encourages them to be risky to get huge payoffs), then we have to try and cap compensation because we are mad that they are doing the logical actions if they know they can't fail.
All I can say is, "whatever". I hear China is becoming more capitalist, I guess I can always move there once we become socialist.

Orlando Magic (again)
I'm pumped about the game tonight. Orlando by 6.
It's about time that people are starting to respect the Magic as more than just a soft 3 point shooting team. The level of depth on this team is simply amazing. Even when Turk is off and Dwight is in foul trouble, we can still have 5 guys on the floor performing well against some of the best teams in the league.

Magic need to step it up
This is pretty obvious, but the Magic will need to step up the pressure on Celtics to win the series. The last five minutes of game 5 were terrible. Magic lost all focus and went into panic mode. They let the Boston crowd get into their head and blew it.
On a related note, lets get Orlando behind the Magic. When I see the Boston crowd get that into the game, I am a little ashamed at Orlando's lack of enthusiasm for their team.
That is all.

AIG bonuses and capitalism
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/05/aig-revises-bonus-total-m/
Yet another AIG bonus debacle. I recently had a discussion with somebody about capitalism and socialism; he made the comment that something needs to change: capitalism is not working. I made the argument that something does indeed need to change, but we need to change back to real capitalism. In a capitalist system, this bank would have failed long ago. The risky practices exercised by the executives would have been exposed throughout the financial community and would have taught a valuable lesson. Now that the government has stepped in with massive bailouts to keep this company afloat, everyone's confidence in the entire financial system has been shattered. This is just the tip of the iceberg in bad decisions that are getting support by our government.

Swine Flu
http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/05/05/swine.flu.main/index.html?eref=rss_topstories
I am usually a fairly laid-back person, but I feel that the amount of hysteria over the Swine Flu has been totally unwarranted. The news both local and national has been blowing this story way out of proportion. So far, this flu has been no worse in terms of fatality than regular flu. I am definitely a supporter of free speech and in no way condone stifling the news; I do however believe that news sources that promote hysteria in the name of "selling papers" (although nobody sells papers any more) should be ignored. If people would start reading and listening with a critical and logical mind, then this kind of panic could be avoided.
